I have been reading a lot of articles and watching videos that promote 'made in America'. That's great and I applaud the producers of this content for their patriotism. However, I am not American so... When I was younger my father needed an orchard sprayer. He bought the steel (BHP Australia) the tank (NZ), plumbing (NZ) and a German pump. He then cut and welded the steel, mounted the pump and tank and plumbed the thing out. This was the first of three sprayers built as the orchards grew. Add in mowers, pallet forks, trailers and other smaller stuff. Made in New Zealand? Well, we think so and we are proud that he made this equipment, all of which was used for many years. My last car was, apparently, 'built in Hungary'. Open the bonnet and you see 'electronics by Hitachi' (Japan). All its tyres were from Firestone (New Zealand?). After major work, the front suspension and drive-chain are after-market, Chinese parts? This car was labelled as a major German brand. At Freeman Software, we use Hewlett-Packard(tm) (USA) computers. All of them seem to be made in Singapore but my server was 'assembled in Australia'. After a number of HP printers (made in Singapore), we currently run Brother(tm) (Japan) printers made in China. Our development software is developed in USA. However, all of our design; cosmetic, software and database, is done in New Zealand by New Zealanders. All of our development, while using American tools, is done in New Zealand by New Zealanders. The same goes for our testing, documentation and implementation - it is done in New Zealand by New Zealanders. New Zealand Made - Yes, and proud of it.
