The Florian brand has been synonymous with beautifully designed, handcrafted leather handbags and accessories for over 50 years. Our beautiful leathergoods are still made on-site in Christchurch, New Zealand, by a small team of women passionate about great quality and service. All our products are made from the best New Zealand and Italian leathers. Florian was founded by Florian Furjan, who mastered the craft of leather making in the great leather houses of Europe. After arriving in New Zealand from Hungry, he and his wife Annette founded Bag Craft in Sydenham, Christhchurch in 1958, which they quickly renamed Florian. Furjan built many of the machines and leather manufacturing tools requried and set about handcrafting handbags which sold throughout New Zealand. The handbags were made from beautiful,vegetable dyed, New Zealand leather and crafted with the quality desired by women of the time, who would save to purchase one great handbag intended to last them a lifetime. Today women still bring in their favourite old Florian handags for minor repairs and new linings. A testament to the beauty and quality of Florian. Anoa Design is proud to be the third owner of this truely special New Zealand brand and although rebranded FlorianRhdoes in 2014, Florian Furjan's presence lives on at Anoa Design through a large archive of original patterns and in the passion we still put into making high quality handbags and leather accessories that last a lifetime.
